One supermarket in Makati received a Show Cause Order from DTI
The Department of Trade and Industry-Consumer Protection Group (DTI-CPG) Undersecretary Atty. Ruth B. Castelo, along with DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Assistant Secretary and FTEB Concurrent Director Ronnel O. Abrenica, led the price and supply monitoring of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) in three (3) supermarkets in Makati City on Thursday, 21 April 2022. According to DTI-FTEB surveillance and monitoring team, prices of all monitored goods are well within the DTI Suggested Retail Price (SRP) Bulletin. However, one (1) out of the three (3) inspected supermarkets received a Show Cause Order as some products sold did not bear any price tag mandated under the Republic Act 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines. Offering any consumer product in the marketplace without an appropriate price tag, label, or marking is prohibited by the law.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assures the public that the price and supply of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPCs) in the country are stable amid the circulating price hike rumors when DTI-Consumer Protection Group (DTI-CPG) Undersecretary Atty. Ruth B. Castelo and DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Assistant Director Marimel Dancel Porciuncula inspected one (1) supermarket in Quezon City. The DTI-FTEB team reported that all monitored products still comply with the DTI Suggested Retail Price (SRP) Bulletin and some of the BNPCs are being sold at a lower price.
DTI reminds establishments to still follow health protocols even under Alert Level 1
The Department of Trade and Industry reminds establishments to still follow the Minimum Public Health Standards (MPHS) set by the government even after the National Capital Region (NCR) shifted to Alert Level 1 beginning 01 March 2022. On 04 March 2022, DTI-Consumer Protection Group (DTI-CPG) Undersecretary Atty. Ruth B. Castelo and DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Assistant Director Marimel Dancel Porciuncula led the surveillance and monitoring team in inspecting the health protocols compliance of establishments in one (1) mall in Quezon City. The DTI-FTEB team spot-checked a total of seven (7) establishments covering personal care services, cinemas and movie houses, recreational venues, dine-in and take-out restaurants, supermarkets, and fitness and gym venues.
